In most regions where you find sand, you will also find myths and stories about it. In Russia there is the story of Babayaga and Vasalissa, similar to the story of Cinderella. In Sudan live the Shilluk who believe Juok created them from the black sand of the White Nile. Around the well known Uluru (Ayers Rock) in Australia there is Milpatjunanyi: women are telling stories in the sand. Starting with Aristophanes, many writers spun stories with sand. Until today sand continues to be part of stories or even the central topic with the comic character Sandman of Neil Gayman or the little Sandman who is well known to most German speaking people.
